Value Beyond Transaction: The Power of Reciprocity in Community
When we give and receive beyond mere exchange, true worth flourishes.
Reciprocity might be the word that best describes a healthy community.
And what happens in a healthy community?
Value flourishes everywhere.
We live in societies wired for instant gratification—where value is just a click away, easily served and consumed.
In a world where worth is measured in price tags, hyper-consumption reduces what we seek to mere commodities, often disconnecting us from their true essence.
It's in communities where we return to the roots of giving and receiving, where we reconnect with reciprocity—what we sow is what we reap.
Value takes on a new meaning when we invest beyond the energetics of money
We’re talking value beyond transaction, beyond exchanging hands, beyond sale and expense—value that grows exponentially through your contribution and that of others. Whatever that contribution is.
Held and nurtured collectively, it belongs to all of us, and we receive it individually in the form that best serves us in the moment.
Reciprocity into action: Coaches with Impact
I’ve been nurturing communities for many years, and especially since the COVID pandemic started and I became a freelancer (the universe wanted that these two things happened at the same time).
One example of community I’m part of and an active member, where I still I think I get more than I received, is Coaches with Impact.
It was spring 2024 when Francesco Enrico Carbone opened the doors of his home to an intimate group of coaches and practitioners.
I said yes to the invite, wearing my impostor syndrome hat. “You’re not a coach—wtf are you going to do there?”
But I left that hat at home and showed up instead with my curiosity earrings on.
Fast forward to spring 2025:
- I’ve been leading the Self-Growth Hub initiative, organising 9 (and counting!) free, open sessions with different coaches in the community—giving them a space to showcase their magic and the many flavours of coaching to anyone curious about self-development.
- I’ve co-created, strategised, and helped lay the foundations of this community with the core team, driven by a shared commitment to delivering high value for its members and sparking ripples of impact beyond.
- I’ve met many community members in person, in Berlin and Barcelona, not just for networking, but to hang out with each other with no agenda.
- I've attended many sessions by coaches for coaches, gaining insights and facing edges, finding both inspiration and challenges that are expanding my ways of holding space for transformation.
- And I've decided (now yes) to enter the coaching education territory. I'm now 2 months into my ORSC systemic coaching training with CRR and Green Light GO.
I’m grateful and honoured to be part of Coaches with Impact and to be nurturing its value(s) alongside so many brilliant souls.
And the best thing is that I’m part of many other communities where this kind of value creation is not an exception, but the daily norm.
